Master Your Flashlight
Welcome to the simplest Online Flashlight. Here's a quick guide to using all the powerful features available in your browser.
Instant Light
Open the website and tap the power button to turn on the screen light. Set your device’s display brightness in system settings; this app does not change the hardware brightness.
Color Control
Use the color picker to change the light color for different needs:
- Dim red for nearby tasks in darkness
- Warm for reading
- Blue for screen testing
Emergency Tools
SOS & Morse Code Signaling
Flash the international SOS distress signal (... --- ...) or create custom morse code messages. Enter text or choose a preset like HELP, MEDICAL, FIRE, or POLICE, select the speed, and press START to signal visually using your screen. Press STOP when finished. SOS and custom Morse signals are flashing light, so the photosensitivity precautions for strobe mode apply here too.
Strobe Light
Enable the strobe effect for a flashing light. You can adjust the speed from 1 to 20 Hz; actual timing depends on the browser. Flashing can trigger seizures, and no setting guarantees safety. Read the warning, avoid exposing anyone who may be photosensitive, and get explicit consent from others nearby.
Troubleshooting
The screen keeps turning off or dimming
The app requests a screen wake lock while the light is on where supported, but the browser or device can deny or release it. Keep the tab visible. If the screen still dims or sleeps, check these device settings:
- iOS (iPhone/iPad): Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock and set it to a longer interval, or Never, while you're using the flashlight. If brightness changes unexpectedly, also check Auto-Brightness under Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size. System power or temperature limits may still affect the display.
- Android: Go to Settings > Display > Screen timeout and increase it. Some phones also have an adaptive brightness setting that dims the screen in a dark room, which works against you here. Turn it off temporarily under Settings > Display > Adaptive brightness.
- Laptops: Check your OS power settings for "screen timeout" or "sleep after" and extend it while plugged in.
Offline caching and screen wake locks are separate features. Offline use depends on the required files being cached successfully; test the tool without a connection before relying on it. A wake lock does not guarantee that your device will keep the screen on.
Fullscreen keeps exiting
Some browsers automatically exit fullscreen if you switch apps, lock the phone, or trigger certain system gestures. If fullscreen exits unexpectedly:
- Tap the fullscreen button again. Browsers require a fresh tap to re-enter fullscreen; that's a security rule enforced by the browser itself.
- iOS Safari treats fullscreen for web pages differently than native apps. If it exits immediately, just use the light at normal screen size. Brightness stays the same either way.
- Some in-app browsers (opened from Instagram, TikTok, and similar apps) block fullscreen entirely. Open the site in Safari or Chrome instead.
The light looks dim even at "full brightness"
The screen only gets as bright as your device's own hardware maximum allows. A website can't push past that ceiling. Two things help:
- Turn your device's own brightness all the way up in system settings first. The tool sets your screen content to white or a color; it doesn't touch the hardware brightness slider.
- For more directional light, try your device’s built-in LED torch if available. Battery use depends on hardware, brightness, LED settings, and other activity. Our Screen vs. LED Flashlight comparison covers the tradeoffs.
